ASHER EDELMAN rose to prominence as a cut-throat Wall Street financier during the '70s and '80s, with an arbitrage strategy based on Sun Tzu's Art of War. He came to exemplify Wall Street excess when he served as the inspiration for Oliver Stone's character, Gordon Gekko. More recently, Edelman has founded two influential art companies: ArtAssure, an art finance firm, and Artemus, an art leasing enterprise recently, and came out in support of Bernie Sanders during the 2016 American presidential election.
